Intensive Jordanian Arabic Program

Intensive Jordanian Arabic Program

Our Intensive Jordanian Arabic Program is designed to accelerate your language learning through full cultural and linguistic immersion. We offer year-round courses in Jordanian and Levantine Colloquial Arabic (Ammiyya), as well as Modern Standard Arabic (MSA). Online lessons are also available for those seeking more flexibility. For a more customized experience, we provide personalized courses tailored to your specific learning goals.

Our courses offer flexibility in both duration and timing, running from one to thirteen weeks and available year-round—spring, summer, fall, and winter. Whether you’re looking for a short, intensive Arabic program in Amman or elsewhere in the Middle East, or prefer a longer stay to immerse yourself in the language and culture, we’re here to help you find the experience that fits your goals.

You can start the Intensive Jordanian Arabic Program at any time, and it will be tailored to reflect language ability, learning goals, and learning preferences. The classes you take will enable you to enhance your Arabic skills through a range of study options. Daily interaction with local Jordanians and fellow students will also give you valuable opportunities to practice and reinforce what you learn in class.

Program Location

Our intensive Arabic courses are held in Amman, the capital of Jordan, where you’ll experience the richness of Jordanian culture, daily life, and political context. As part of the program, you’ll also gain insight into the human rights situation of Palestinian refugees through visits to local refugee camps and nearby Jordanian villages. To further enhance your experience and provide you with deeper engagement and cultural understanding, we organize visits to Jordanian universities, factories, and with local families.

All Arabic courses are available at different intensities, with flexible class frequencies, as well as varying levels of immersion and out-of-classroom coursework.

  • Non-Intensive Arabic lessons are taught for a total of 12 hours per week, with three hours of study a day for three days each week. Learning progresses through in-class immersion as well as through your day-to-day interactions with people in the city of Amman. We recommend students interested in a long-term program (between 1 – 3 months) enroll in a non-intensive Arabic course.
  • The Intensive Arabic course is designed to enhance any previous immersion in Arabic language and culture. These courses are held for 20 hours each week, with approximately four hours of Arabic language instruction per day, five days a week. Intensive Arabic courses include additional homework and out-of-classroom assignments.
  • The third and final course intensity, the Super-Intensive Arabic program, is for those who want a completely immersive, high-intensity classroom-oriented experience. These courses offer 30 hours of instruction per week, with five hours of language instruction per day, five days a week. We generally recommend super intensive courses for those enrolling in shorter programs (1 – 4 weeks) due to the larger study load.

Assessment And Placement

With the exception of complete beginners, all students take a written and oral language proficiency assessment on the first day of classes. Teachers will then determine their placement by examining their performance as well as taking prior language study into account.

Getting to Jordan

Flying is the easiest and most common way to reach Jordan. Most international travelers arrive at Queen Alia International Airport (AMM) near Amman, which is well-connected to major cities worldwide via airlines such as Royal Jordanian, Turkish Airlines, Qatar Airways, and Emirates. There’s also a smaller airport in Aqaba (King Hussein International Airport) for some regional and budget flights.

Many nationalities can get a visa on arrival, or you can use the Jordan Pass, which waives the visa fee if you stay at least three nights and includes entry to major sites like Petra.

Accomodations

Study Levantine Arabic School offers international Arabic students a chance to stay with a Jordanian host family with whom they can practice their Arabic skills, learn more about Jordanian culture and experience daily Jordanian life.

Homestays are only guaranteed for female students and are subject to availability for male students. If a host family placement isn’t available, or if you prefer another arrangement, you can stay in a shared apartment with fellow students. Because homestay spots are limited, we recommend applying as early as possible to secure your preferred housing option.

Queen Alia Airport Pickups

Study Levantine Arabic School staff can organize a taxi to pick you up at Queen Alia International Airport and take you directly to Amman and the Center. This is the easiest and most convenient way to reach us (about 30–45 minutes, depending on traffic).

An additional fee applies for this service, typically around 50 euros in total. Please let us know if you would like to arrange an airport pickup.

How to Apply?

Please send an email application request to Info@studyarabic.org with Intensive Jordanian Arabic Program in the subject line. Once we receive your email, we will send you the application form.
